Maury Pottery

Tile Murals

I design and create porcelain tile murals. They are created with my individually made tiles which are mounted on wood.  I use an airbrush technique to apply glazes that I layer and blend to reach a rich depth of color. I am also available to create custom tiles that can be installed in a variety of settings.

Platters

I create a variety of porcelain platters using two different distinct styles of decorating. I slip trail a design onto my clay and then apply my glazes with an airbrush to give them beautiful layers of blended, rich colors in the final work. I also etch designs by drawing through a waxed surface which is burned off in the first firing leaving a copper green fine line design.

Bowls

The hand thrown bowls we make are often altered with carved edges and designs. They are glazed with the airbrush technique used on my other work. We always keep function in mind as we create these bowls.

About Us

Toni Maury has been working as a clay artist for the past 45 years, after receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Alaska. She has worked as an artist in Alaska creating unique functional pottery and wall tile murals. Her work reflects the beautiful surroundings she has lived and adventured in over the years.
Kirby Maury is taking more time to work in the studio after retiring from a career in highway engineering. He can now put his art education to use in the studio creating pottery that focuses on function as well as creatively carved forms.

They have been fortunate to have lived in a remote village of Halibut Cove and Anchorage over the years. Toni has also managed the Halibut Cove Experience Gallery for the past 25 years. This seasonal gallery represents the many fine artists of the small community.
